24 Jul What do you need to know about Oxo-Biodegradable Stretch film in Malaysia?
Stretch film is a highly stretchable plastic film that generally used to wrap around items and cartons. The elastic recovery keeps the items tightly bound. It is frequently used to unitize pallet loads but also may be used for bundling smaller items. There are various types of stretch film include bundling stretch film, hand stretch film, extended core stretch film, machine stretch film and static dissipative film. The difference between oxo-biodegradable stretch film and regular stretch film is that the oxo-biodegradable stretch film is recyclable as it can be degradable faster when under condition of exposure to the sunlight, double up the speed of degradation compared with regular stretch film.
The special formulation helps the stretch wrap to degrade in 12-24 months through oxidative degradation (reaction with oxygen, UV light, and mechanical pressure) or biodegradation (reaction with oxygen, moisture, and microorganisms). The special oxo-biodegradable additives (OBP) cause the plastic to degrade at a control rate. The lifespan of stretch film is depending on the requirements of the product. A lifespan from 3 to 12 months can be chosen. It has the similar characteristics and performance as the standard stretch film. By using oxo-biodegradable stretch film can make a big difference to our world as it is an eco-friendly element.
